This text is concerned with an analysis of the economy efficiency of the Middle-European economies - the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Slovenia in the first years of their membership in the EU. We can manifest on the basis of multidimensional scaling methods that the Czech Republic has the highest potential to become the most powerful new member state in the centre of Europe.

The gross fixed capital of the Czech agriculture is one of the lowest in the EU. Low investment influences the cost/revenue ratio and the efficiency of agricultural production and total competitiveness of agricultural production consequently. European programmes supporting investment to agriculture are aimed at supporting the modernization of agricultural holdings with low investment both building and technology of animal and plant production. Analysis of subsidies and profitability of agricultural holdings in less favoured areas

This paper analyses the structure of subsidies in the sample of agricultural holdings classified according to their area in less favoured areas. Changes related to the accession of the Czech Republic in the EU and implementation of rules of the common agricultural policy (CAP) reflected in the investigated period 2003 - 2006. The profitability of agricultural holdings measured through the profit/loss (including its detailed structure) and return on assets is further analysed. Regional food clusters in Poland and the Czech Republic

Clusters, which are business solutions that support economic and regional development, are attracting growing interest in the European Union and the world, including in Japan. This study analyzes regional food clusters, and it evaluates the potential of regional clusters in two EU countries: Poland and the Czech Republic. The study relied on secondary data published by the European Clusters Observatory in 2008. This article deals with one of the modern trends in marketing communication, which is mobile marketing. Towards the end of 2008, several projects which use mobile phones for target marketing communication were launched. Commercial SMS's are sent on the base of agreement or registration of the consumers on special websites, for example hellomobil.cz. The benefit for the consumers is the bonus which can have more forms - not only sending money to the account, free SMS's/MMS's and minutes but also the monthly tariff reduction from the operator. Mass industrial production makes possible significantly to increase productivity of labour and to reduce costs compared to other production systems. In spite of this there are reserves for improvement. The article analyses the production of suction tube and suction modules at the firm Robert Bosch, České Budějovice and highlights reserves consisting in the speed-up of changeover times in assembly lines for a new production batch. By change of the routing it was possible to reduce the original operation time of 81,1 min down to 14,5 min. This result was achieved due to new work organization within manufacturing cells. Application of the ABC analysis in management of food inventory

The article is focused on managing stock inventory with help of the ABC method. The theory is explained on an actual company dealing with retail grocery distribution within the south bohemian region. The ABC method is applied on 4,405 inventory items regarding their 2008 year turnover. Results of the analysis are processed into a system plan to reduce the asset liability and decrease the stock inventory while maintaining the requested quality of logistic services.

Performance evaluation of statistical methods for forecasting of unemployment rate

The aim of this article is the accuracy evaluation of suitable models used for prediction of the unemployment rate development in Czech Republic under conditions of economic depression. Models were based on exponential smoothing and training of artificial neural networks. In regard of urgency evaluation and comparison situation labour market in South Bohemia's districts forms the need of creation such indicator that it would with satisfactory predicative ability informed about potential of single districts. By setting such indicator is necessary start from qualified statistical analysis indicators (variables), with them it is possible to characterize the individual components of labour market. Managerial competencies of head and department nurses in facultative hospital Brno Bohunice

Head and department nurses were the target groups of this research in the Faculty Hospital, Brno. This paper deals with their managerial competencies. 846 respondents participated in a questionnaire research covering 724 nurses, 99 department nurses and 23 head nurses. This research shows that informal relationships predominate in the Hospital and it is based on the democratic managerial style of department and head nurses. Nurses in management positions are quite satisfied with their managerial skills (67,7 % cases). Half of respondents (123 nurses) said that do not want to manage people in future. Worldwide economic crisis mobilizes not only economists, financial managers, businessman and government representatives, but also most people themselves in working process to find effective alternatives for reducing consequences of that crisis - for optimal rate of employment. Within the frame of project Inoredis which is interested in interregional disparities in the Czech Republic was realized full-area questionnaire research. This questionnaire contained few questions which were interested in finance resources which are used by municipalities for their dynamic economic development. This article contain parts which are interested in using finance from Europe Unions founds by municipalities. The first part of article works with answers of all respondents. The second part deals with respondents who have experiences in using projects for their dynamic development.
